I just returned from Philadelphia, time to blog. Famous jewelry heists are the stuff of legends, not to mention movies. The largest heist of diamonds was the 2003 of $100 million theft in Antwerp, Belgium. The thieves turned out to be the gang known as the “School of Turin”. One of them was called the “King of Thieves”, another one was called the “Magician with the Keys”. The plot played out like a movie, with complex and detailed planning.

As expert as these guys really were, they sometimes tend to make certain stupid errors. All in all, the overall amount of one family unit sales on Kauai has dropped to twenty-seven, from thirty one in the corresponding month of the previous year. In addition to all of this, The average price of a one family unit was $450,000, which is down a touch above twenty percent from the previous year. Kauai real estate has rarely been so perplexing in my opinion. Broadly speaking, so far this year sales of one family units has numbered 130, down about a quarter or so from the previous year measured. The average overall cost of a one family unit for the initial 7 months of 2009 was about $470,000 or so which is down a little more than a quarter from the previous year measured.

Off Topic-Armored Vehicles in History

When Hitler invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1942, the elite Panzer Divisions almost succeeded in conquering the country, but the Soviets had a secret weapon, the T-34 tank. This tank was mainly special because it was the first to use sloping armor. The Germans soon copied this technology on their new ‘Panther’ tank. The ‘Panther’ tank is considered by many historians to be the best all around tank of the second world war but it did have crucial drawback: it was too well engineered. It was so sophisticated,
with modern fire control systems, etc and other lavish features, that it could not be produced in the large numbers required. it did have about a 7 to 1 tank on tank kill ratio in it’s favor though. The Soviet T-34 and the American Sherman on the other hand, while less effective, were designed in such a way that they could roll off the assembly line by the tens of thousands. The Germans also built the famous super-heavy tank known as the ‘Tiger’ and had first rate armored cars and supporting armored vehicles.
This weighed about 70 tons and had a long barreled, high velocity 88mm main gun, which was originally designed to shoot down high altitude bombers. Although a terrifying weapon, it too could not be produced
in the numbers required to be a war-winner. In addition, the Soviets eventually countered with a super heavy tank of their own known as the ‘Stalino’ which was first used in the invasion of Romania
in 1944. The best Allied built tank of the war was probably the British built Comet. it featured a long barreled 77mm gun which was a lethaltank destroyer and numerous other modern features. It arrived
relatively late in the war, however and the Sherman tank did the brunt of the fighting following the D-Day landings in June 1944. During that war, there were many great tank battles, and many lessons were learned
concerning armored vehicles as a whole. The largest of theese battles was the battle of Kursk on the Russian front. Thousands of tanks were used on both sides. The Germans employed a gigantic self-propeled, armored assault gun called the ferdinand. They also had top notch Armored Cars as weel. But the ferdinand was the largest and most powerful such weapon to be used up to that time but proved vulnerable when it’s supporting infantry was chopped down. The Finns had success literally destroying thousands of Soviet tanks and armored cars during the Russo-Finnish war and ‘Continuation War’. In the beginning they mainly had simple ‘Molotov cocktails’ or Petrol bombs though they later obtained more advanced weapons.

Celine Dion Joins Forces In New Jewelry Line With Journalist Yang Lan

According to reports Celine Dion and television host and Journalist Yang Lan have joined forces in a new jewelry line after an interview Lan had with Dion. History of Modern Armored Cars

This article is a little bit off topic but it is a subject I am interested in.

Prior to World War 2,  tanks and other armored vehicles were spread out more or less evenly,  with every particular division having a handful tanks and armored cars. However, Guderian proposed it was  a much better idea that infantry divisions have no armor whatsoever but that specialized Armored or ‘Panzer’ Divisions and other mechanized type divisions be loaded up with large numbers of them so as to create massive holes in enemy lines.

As a result of this modern military doctrine, specialled “panzergrenadier” or “tank infantry” units followed the tanks closely on halftracked vehicles and they were in turn supported by self propelled artillery pieces and tracked vehicles of all types including in the anti-aircraft, ant-tank and engineering roles,etc. Of course,  Armored Cars were also heavily employed in the reconnaissance units of the Panzer Division. Each Panzer Division was thus a self sustaining army which could take a key objective like a port or capital city. This model of warfare was highly successful and these divsions spearheaded the German drive into Poland, Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Belgium and France. Most of the countries fell in a matter of days, France lasted only 24 days under this powerful onslaught. Then the German armies turned south and with the help of their Italian allies overran Yugoslavia and Greece in short order. During the next phase of battle in the Sahara desert the armored cars played a pivotal role. After seeing Italy defeated in Egypt and eastern Libya by the more mobile British forces, Hitler then sent the ‘Afrika Korps’, a highly motorized and armored Army, to aid the Italians. Under the command of legendary general Erwin Rommel, the Afrika Korps and italian forces battled the British commonwealth forces in a seesaw battle in which the tank and armored cars played a major role.
